Budh Vihar Murder Case: Tenant Turned Murderer After Demanding Rent, Man Arrested For Strangulating Elderly Woman To Death

The Crime Branch has arrested the accused tenant in the case of brutally murdering a 65-year-old elderly woman during robbery in Budh Vihar of Vijay Vihar police station area. On his notice the looted jewelery was recovered. While absconding, the accused did not stay at any place for more than five days.

According to DCP Pankaj Kumar, on the morning of October 7, the police had received information that an elderly woman had been murdered in a house in Budh Vihar Phase 1, Rohini. When the police reached the spot after receiving the information, the woman's body was lying on the bed in her house on the ground floor. There were scratch marks around his neck and signs of a scuffle. The woman's mobile and jewelery were missing. Investigation revealed that the woman lived alone in the house. His son and daughter lived separately.

Suspicion deepens on tenant Himanshu

Considering the seriousness of the case, the responsibility of investigation was handed over to the Crime Branch. The police team under the leadership of ACP Ashok Sharma and Inspector Ajay Sharma started gathering local information besides analyzing the technical details of the suspects. While analyzing CCTV footage of the area, a suspect was seen leaving the area in the morning. He was identified as tenant Himanshu.

Police found the phone switched off

On inquiring the family, it was found that he worked as a salesman and used to go out often as per his job priority. The suspicion on him deepened when his phone was found switched off. Police received information that Himanshu was coming from Uttar Pradesh to Delhi to meet some of his relatives. His plan is to escape to Nepal. On the above information, Himanshu Yadav was arrested from Japanese Park, Rohini.

There was no money to pay the rent

During interrogation, he told that he was troubled due to financial crisis. He did not have money to pay the house rent. The landlady was demanding several months of outstanding rent due to which he was under a lot of pressure. Just two days before the incident, the landlady had called him and scolded him for not being able to pay the rent. Hurt by this, Himanshu decided to kill the landlady and loot her jewelery and cash.

The jewelery was mortgaged for Rs 70 thousand.

On the day of the incident, he strangled the woman to death and looted the jewellery, a pair of tops and a gold ring worn by the dead body. After the incident, he went to Bhiwani, Haryana, where he mortgaged the looted jewelery for Rs 70 thousand. He told during interrogation that in two and a half months, he never stayed at any one place for more than five days and kept roaming in many states to avoid arrest.

Took help of gaming app also

Himanshu Yadav lived on rent in the same building in Budh Vihar and worked in sales of a private jeans company. Earlier he used to run an electronic shop with his family which was closed due to financial losses. To compensate for the loss, he also took the help of stock market and online gaming app, but he suffered more loss. He was in dire need of money to repay the loan, due to which he committed this crime.
