Jagran correspondent, Dehradun. Cancer patients of the state are going to get big relief soon. The operation of Shakuntala Rani Sardari Lal Oberoi Maternity and Cancer Hospital located in Harrawala will start soon. On Wednesday, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan inspected the newly constructed hospital and reviewed the preparations related to the building, medical facilities and operation.
During the inspection, the Chief Secretary said that this hospital is being developed as a national level super specialty cancer hospital. Here, all cancer related testing and treatment facilities will be made available under one roof, so that patients can get timely and better treatment.
The Chief Secretary directed the officials to identify suitable land for residential buildings for doctors and other health workers around the hospital premises. He said that deployment of permanent staff and convenient accommodation arrangements would make the operation of the hospital more effective.
He instructed the Director General of Health to submit a departmental action plan to ensure immediate provision of necessary machines and modern medical equipment in the hospital. Let us tell you that the foundation stone of this super specialty cancer hospital was laid in the year 2020.
This 300-bed hospital, built with the financial support of the Central and State Government under the National Health Mission, is ready. With the opening of the hospital, cancer patients of the state will not have to go to other states for treatment. Here, facilities for investigation, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and high level surgery along with expert consultation will be available.
