Capable of engaging both stationary and moving targets

Digital Desk, New Delhi. Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) showcased several of its groundbreaking inventions aimed at strengthening national security on the line of duty during the 77th Republic Day Parade. Key systems displayed included an anti-ship hypersonic missile with a range of 1500 km.

This hypersonic missile has been designed to meet the coastal requirements of the Indian Navy and enhance maritime attack capabilities. It is a hypersonic glide missile capable of hitting both stationary and moving targets. It is designed to carry a variety of payloads.

It is said to be the first of its kind system with completely indigenous avionics and high-accuracy sensors. It follows a semi-ballistic trajectory, initially achieving a speed of Mach 10 and maintaining an average speed of Mach 5.0 during its flight. Indigenously developed sensors enable the missile to accurately engage moving targets during the final phase.

Due to its ability to fly at low altitude, high speed and maneuverability, enemy ground and ship based radar systems are unable to detect it. Because of this it becomes a very lethal weapon system. This missile has a two-stage solid propulsion rocket motor system. After the first stage is fired and separated, the second stage propels the missile.
