Chhattisgarh remained closed in protest against religious conversion, business establishments remained closed from Bastar to Surguja.

The widespread impact of the state-wide bandh was observed on Wednesday in protest against the recent violence against attempts to stop religious conversion in Amabeda in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh. Business establishments remained closed from Bastar to Surguja. The maximum impact was seen in the districts of Bastar division.
The bandh organized by Sarva Hindu Samaj and Chhattisgarh Sarva Samaj has been fully supported by organizations like Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal and Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce.
The situation remained tense in Amabeda and Useli villages of Kanker on Wednesday. Tribal and Hindu organizations protested by taking out a bike rally in Kondagaon and Dantewada. Traders spontaneously kept their shops closed.
Hospitals, medical stores and emergency services were exempted from the bandh. Police force has been deployed to control the situation in Amabeda.
Protestors in Jagdalpur and Dantewada submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister demanding strict action against the culprits. Officials of Sarva Samaj allege that cases of conversion through inducement and pressure are increasing in the forest areas of the state, due to which social harmony is being affected.
