Jagran correspondent, Muzaffarpur. After the Mayor's night cleaning campaign and morning cleaning, the city looks clean only for two hours in the morning (from 9 to 11 am). As soon as the market opens at 11 o'clock, the shopkeepers clean their shops and either throw all the garbage in the open on the roads and streets or throw it in the drain. Due to this, after 11 am the city is again covered with garbage.

In this way, the hard work of the cleaning workers during the night and morning cleaning operations goes waste. The Municipal Corporation has many times appealed to the city residents to change this habit. People have been asked to clean the shops and keep the garbage in dustbins and throw it on the road while closing the shops at night, but it is having no effect. In such a situation, how will Muzaffarpur shine? This question is being raised by the officials and employees of the Municipal Corporation.

Kaushal Kishore, retired cleaning in-charge of the corporation, says that during the mayor's cleanliness campaign, all the major roads of the city are cleaned and garbage is collected at night. After this, every day from five to nine in the morning, the streets and localities of the city are cleaned and garbage is collected. Barring exceptions, the city looks clean after this, but this cleanliness is visible only till 11 in the morning.

When the city residents wake up in the morning and clean their houses, they throw all the garbage in the street. Similarly, after the market opens at 11 in the morning, the shopkeepers clean the shops and throw the waste in the roads and drains. Due to this the city becomes dirty again. Unless people cooperate, the corporation will not be able to make the city clean, healthy and beautiful even if it wants to. The former cleaning in-charge said that the Municipal Commissioner has appealed several times to the shopkeepers to keep dustbins in their shops.

By running a campaign, people were asked to throw garbage on the road at night instead of in the morning so that it could be picked up during night cleaning, but there was no cooperation from the shopkeepers. The corporation can take strict steps, but first it is trying to make people aware. If they do not agree, fine will have to be imposed on those throwing garbage in the open.

The cleanliness of the city is not just the responsibility of the Municipal Corporation. People will also have to contribute in this. Responsibility will have to be taken to keep the city clean. Instead of throwing garbage in the open, we will have to follow the instructions of the corporation, only then the city will shine. -Dr. Deepak Kumar

Dainik Jagran's Muzaffarpur Ko Shinkan Hai campaign can be helpful in making people aware in this regard. People will also have to cooperate in maintaining the cleanliness of the city. -Dr. Firozuddin Faiz

It is the responsibility of the Municipal Corporation to make the city clean, healthy and beautiful. The corporation will be completely successful in this work only when the city residents cooperate. Instead of throwing garbage in the open, collect it in a dustbin and keep it on the roadside at night so that the corporation can pick it up. After becoming the mayor, I started a night cleaning campaign to clean the city so that people could find a clean city in the morning. Effort should be made to see its benefits throughout the day. -Nirmala Devi, Mayor
