Pramod Bajpai, resident of Priyadarshini Nagar Sector A, does a private job. He was in the meeting on Tuesday. Meanwhile, a link of ARTO's challan came in the form of an APK file on his WhatsApp. According to Pramod, he clicked on the link but did not take any further action and closed the link. On Wednesday afternoon, Rs 96 thousand were deducted from his credit card twice. Pramod was stunned when he got the message of deduction of money.
On realizing the fraud, call cyber helpline number 1930. When there was no response from there, he reached the cyber police station and gave information. When the cyber expert checked the mobile, it came to light that the APK file had been clicked. Branded mobiles were purchased by cyber thugs through one shopping platform. In the second incident, Ajay Singh, a resident of Singrosi, said that a link to the APK file of RTO challan came on WhatsApp from an unknown number on his mobile. Clicked down and opened it by mistake.
During this period, Rs 79 thousand 500 were deducted from the bank account. After coming to know that he was a victim of cyber fraud, he lodged an online complaint on cyber portal 1930.
Cheating of Rs 3.70 lakh from the account of a retired policeman
According to Jairam, a resident of Darogabagh, he has retired from the police department. His pension comes to the account of State Bank of India branch Shahganj. Told that his minor grandson Ayush Bharti often starts playing games with his mobile. While playing the game, a message appeared on the mobile screen on WhatsApp to win and withdraw Rs 200. The cyber thug gave the mobile number and asked for the UPI scanner of the phone and asked to delete it after sending it. Grandson Ayush Bharti sent the scanner, deleted it and started playing the game again.
According to the victim, when he checked his pension amount on December 3, 2025, he came to know that Rs 3.70 lakh had been deducted from his account. On complaint, the cyber team blocked the account of the criminals and seized Rs 2 lakh 50 thousand. Sadar Kotwali police has registered a case and started the process with the help of cyber help desk to send the hold amount to the account.
Cyber police station in-charge Rajesh Pathak says that if any link of APK file comes on WhatsApp, then do not click on it at all. This link is sent by cyber thugs. As soon as the click is made, cyber thugs hack the mobile and get information related to the bank and account and withdraw the deposited amount. These thugs can be defeated only with caution.
