These changes have been taken keeping in mind the One National One Grid One Tariff. The purpose of this change is to reduce the different transport charges across the country. The change in charge will also affect the prices of CNG and PNG.
If media reports are to be believed, the changes in the Unified Tariff System will result in savings of approximately Rs 1,000 crore every year for the gas distribution industry.

Earlier natural gas transportation was divided into three tariffs. In this, as the distance increased, the transport charge also increased. This charge also affects the prices of CNG and PNG. After this PNGRB decided that the tariff will be divided into two zones. This includes 300m and over 300m.
