Jagran correspondent, Bahraich. A consignment of Chinese mobile phones being brought to India hidden in a Xylo car from Nepal has been recovered. While entering India from Nepal border, Nepal Police has exposed smuggling and arrested one accused. The vehicle had an Indian number plate. Security agencies have been alerted after the consignment of Chinese mobile phones was recovered.
Police personnel posted at Jamunha post of Banke district of Nepal, adjacent to Rupaidiha border of Bahraich district, were carrying out intensive checking operation in the evening. During this time, a Xylo vehicle with Indian number plate was stopped on the basis of suspicion. During interrogation, the driver's behavior became suspicious. Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle started running away from the spot.
Police personnel surrounded and caught him. During the inspection of the vehicle, hundreds of Chinese mobile phones were found hidden in the special space made in the doors. Banke district DSP and police spokesperson Deepak Patali said that 205 Chinese mobile sets have been recovered from the vehicle. Their value has been estimated at 16 lakh 95 thousand Nepalese rupees. The driver caught from the spot is Muhammad Sarfaraz Alam, a resident of Naibasti of Rupaidiha Nagar Panchayat. He told that Chinese mobiles were being smuggled.
During interrogation, the accused told that he had already delivered consignments of Chinese mobile phones to the border three-four times before. Now the question arises that who is behind the consignment of Chinese mobiles being brought to Rupaidiha and with what intention, why are Chinese mobiles being dumped in the Indian border area? Whether people involved in anti-national activities are involved in this or there are preparations to do something else, it will be known only after investigation.
Additional Superintendent of Police Rural Durga Prasad Tiwari said that by contacting Nepal Police, the details of who ordered the mobile and where the consignment of mobiles has been delivered will also be disclosed.
