Digital Desk, New Delhi. BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari on Wednesday accused Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha MP Mahua Moitra of tax evasion and fraud under the Income Tax Act. Bhandari shared documents and references in this regard on his X handle and said, "Instead of filing fake cases to scare people on the internet media, they should answer."
He asked whether Moitra did not knowingly evade taxes through a company owned by her husband and former BJD MP Pinaki Mishra.
Bhandari also sought clarification from Moitra on providing professional services to a company called "White Lily" and huge payments made from it. He said that this is a shell company run by Mishra.
He referred to Mishra's alleged admission in an interview dated 8 May 2014, in which he had said that the company had no active business and termed it a shell company. Bhandari alleged that these transactions are in violation of Section 276 of the Income Tax Act.
