Jagran correspondent, Muzaffarpur. Even after filing an affidavit in the High Court, there is no provision of drinking water and toilets for the infected patients. Crowd of patients in a dilapidated building. There are medicine stores everywhere. The data is also not maintained. There is fungus. How'd it go?
Bihar State AIDS Control Committee project director Sumit Kumar, who arrived on Wednesday to inspect SKMCH, asked the same questions to ART center in-charge and SKMCH superintendent Dr. Mahesh Prasad.
He said that this is till recently, when an oath has been given in the High Court that arrangements for toilets and drinking water will soon be made at the centers treating infected patients. Expressing surprise that despite being such a big infected centre, even cleaners were not hired, he ordered to shift the ART center immediately.
The Project Director also took stock of the Emergency, OPD, PICU and Super Specialty buildings. He interacted with the doctors, staff and patients present there. During inspection it was also revealed that 16 districts of North Bihar have been linked to SKMCH SRL, but samples are not being received from 76 out of 115 ICTC laboratories. The total number of samples is not being mentioned in the report. This was mentioned in the comments in the visit register of SRL.
He said that the condition of the ART Center building is also worrying. The roof shielding is damaged and could collapse at any time. None of the two sanctioned posts of SMO and MO are appointed. One MO has been deputed from ARTC DMCH Darbhanga. The post of Staff Nurse is also vacant. The number of affected children is 2721, out of which only 240 children are connected to the Parvarish scheme.
The project director stated the need for a separate space for ICTC to maintain confidentiality, a dedicated laboratory room for HIV testing and a waiting area for patients. He ordered regular cleaning at the facility.
