Corporation Bans 1280 Business Units Causing Pollution In Delhi, Special Campaign Runs For Two Months

Lockdown imposed on 1280 business units spreading pollution in Delhi.

Swadesh Kumar, New Delhi. The government, which is trying to reduce air and water pollution in the capital, has also got the support of the corporation. In the last two months, Delhi Municipal Corporation has run a special campaign and closed 1280 business units which are causing air and water pollution. In this, action was taken against 242 units due to water pollution.

At the same time, 1038 units causing air pollution were also closed. These also include some industrial units which were running in unauthorized areas. This is being considered as the biggest action in the history of the corporation.

According to corporation officials, this campaign was conducted in 250 wards of all 12 districts between December 1, 2025 and February 5, 2026. In this, 8,449 business units were surveyed. These also included restaurants, dhabas, construction material shops, jeans dyeing factories, welding and bakery shops.

This campaign was conducted under the supervision of Licensing Inspector in all the wards. The units which had licenses were kept away from the scope of action. The units operating illegally and causing pollution were either vacated or sealed. Recently, details of the action taken by all the zones have been sent to the corporation headquarters.

Action on the instructions of Delhi Government

Corporation officials said that in December, the Delhi government had issued an order to close without notice the industrial and commercial units running illegally and causing pollution. After this, the district administration is surveying the industrial units under the supervision of Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) and action is also being taken against them.

The Municipal Corporation is taking action against factories running in commercial and unauthorized areas. Earlier the corporation used to issue challan on such units. But they were stopped in this campaign. Most of the action has been taken against such units in Rohini and Central Zone.
