Amid adverse weather conditions, the pollution level in Delhi increased so rapidly on Saturday that the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) had to be changed twice in a single day. While the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) announced the imposition of Grade 3 in the morning, Grade 4 had to be imposed in the evening. With this, restrictions of all four phases of lockdown have now come into effect across NCR. There was a thick blanket of smog in Delhi on Saturday morning. The AQI reached near 'severe' category at 397. It was 431 at 4 pm, which increased to 441 at 6 pm and 452 at 8 pm. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), out of the total monitoring stations in Delhi, 21 have recorded AQI more than 400, which falls in the "severe" category. According to CPCB data, the highest AQI was recorded at 445 in Wazirpur, 444 in Vivek Vihar, 442 in Jahangirpuri, 439 in Anand Vihar and 437 in both Ashok Vihar and Rohini. 432 were recorded in Narela, 431 in Patparganj, 430 in Mundka and 429 in Bawana, ITO and Nehru Nagar. According to CPCB data, Chandni Chowk and Punjabi Bagh recorded AQI of 423, while it was 424 in Siri Fort and Sonia Vihar. CPCB said that Burari Crossing recorded AQI of 414, followed by 409 in Karni Singh Shooting Range, 408 each in North Campus and RK Puram and 404 in Okhla Phase-2. Gone.
Under the restrictions of the third phase of GRP, there will be a strict ban on the operation of BS-3 petrol and BS-4 diesel four-wheelers in Delhi, Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddha Nagar. But the disabled will be able to drive both the categories of vehicles for their personal use. Brick kilns, hot mix plants and stone crushers not running on clean fuel will be closed in Delhi-NCR. Under Group 4 restrictions, there is a complete ban on all types of construction work except projects related to national highways, roads, flyovers, over bridges, power distribution and essential services. Under this, there will be a ban on entry of trucks in Delhi. Trucks carrying only essential commodities, CNG and electric trucks, and trucks with BS VI engines will be exempted. There will be a ban on entry of non-essential light commercial vehicles registered outside Delhi. There will be a ban on heavy goods vehicles of BS VI or older diesel registered in Delhi. Studies from sixth to ninth and 11th can be done in online or hybrid mode. Government and non-government offices may be ordered to implement work from home with 50 percent capacity.
