Delhi: 24-year-old Youth Shot Dead, Attacker Absconding; Miscreants Entered Maujpur Cafe And Opened Fire

Digital Desk, New Delhi. A 24-year-old man was shot dead by unidentified assailants at a cafe in north-east Delhi's Maujpur area late on Friday night, police said. The incident was reported at 10:28 pm at a cafe in Welcome area. The police have started investigating the matter promptly.

A senior police officer told PTI, 'Information about the firing incident was received after receiving a PCR call. When the police team reached the spot, they found an injured person lying on the ground. He was identified as Faizan alias Fajji (24), a resident of Welcome. He was immediately taken to Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital, but doctors declared him dead.

“A team from the Crime and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) has inspected the incident site and is collecting physical and scientific evidence,” the officer said. He said that the exact number of attackers and the sequence of events before the firing are not yet clear.

A case has been registered in this regard at the Welcome police station under section 103(1) (murder) of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS) as well as relevant sections of the Arms Act. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the firing took place inside or just around the cafe. Police are examining CCTV footage of the cafe and surrounding areas to identify the accused and trace their activities before and after the incident.

Police have formed teams to raid suspicious places and activated local informers to gather clues. The cafe staff and other people present at the time of the incident are being interrogated so that the circumstances of the incident can be understood. The motive behind the murder is not yet clear.
