Jagran correspondent, West Delhi. Ram Chowk Bazaar Main Road, Palam, one of the busiest business centers of Dwarka district in West Delhi, is today losing its identity due to the neglect of the administration. This road, which was once more than 60 feet wide, has today been converted into a narrow lane for use due to its dilapidated condition, garbage scattered everywhere and rampant encroachment. The situation is such that even walking here in the evening is like winning a battle.
There is movement of thousands of people in Ram Chowk market every day. This main road connecting densely populated areas like Palam, Sadh Nagar and Raj Nagar has now become a permanent base for illegal commercial vehicles.
Commercial vehicles are parked 24 hours on a large part of the road, due to which the width of the road is reduced to half. The situation becomes more dire as evening approaches; On one side there is illegal parking, while on the other side there is a gathering of street vendors.
The little space left is taken over by e-rickshaw drivers. In the evening, the situation is such that leaving aside the car, it becomes difficult to even get out a scooter or a bike. Caught between commercial vehicles and street vendors, the public is forced to struggle in the traffic jam. Despite this, neither the local police, nor the traffic police nor the Municipal Corporation officials are paying attention to this. In this area with thousands of shops and a population of lakhs, the garbage lying on the roadside is not only spreading bad smell but is also inviting diseases. If encroachments are not removed in time and roads are not repaired, the situation may become worse in the coming days.
Encroachment and filth on the roads have made life difficult. The silence of the administration is beyond comprehension, even walking on foot has now become dangerous. - Shiva, local resident
The 60 feet road is occupied by e-rickshaws and illegal parking. There is a traffic jam for hours, but no officer comes to take care. - Prakash, local resident
