Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. The DBG Road police team has busted the illegal gambling racket running in the flat and arrested six accused. Police have recovered Rs 55,000 cash, a large quantity of playing cards and nine expensive mobile phones from the spot.
The arrested accused have been identified as Kishan, Varun of Karol Bagh, Imran of Ghanta Ghar, Sabzi Mandi, Tohid, Shubham of Gurugram, Haryana and Hemant of Anand Parvat. Many accused escaped during the raid and their search is ongoing.
Police raid on secret information
According to the Deputy Commissioner of Central District, on the late night of December 17, Head Constable Shamsher and Constable Shishram, who were doing patrolling duty, received information from a secret informer that some people were gambling inside a residential flat in Amaryllis Unity, Karol Bagh.
On information, the police team along with the informer raided the place mentioned by the informer, where many people were found involved in illegal gambling activity by playing cards. Seeing the police team, some accused tried to run away by scattering playing cards and cash. However, the team arrested six people from the spot.
During the raid, Rs 55,900 in cash, a total of 35 decks of cards of different companies, along with playing cards scattered on the floor were recovered and seized from the spot.
