Jagran correspondent, Prayagraj. The work of Delhi-Varanasi high-speed corridor will start with fast track policy. For this, Railways has made major changes in its work plan. Railway Board has issued an official order to complete the new rail line projects under 'Economic Corridor' on fast track.
Now there will be no need to wait for the old complicated processes to start work on all the new rail projects under PM Gati Shakti Mission under the three major economic corridors of the country – Energy, Mineral and Cement Corridor, High Traffic Density Routes and Rail Sagar Corridor.
Delhi-Varanasi high-speed corridor will get its biggest benefit. Projects falling under the corridor will be given expedited approval under special provisions. For this, a letter has been issued to the General Managers of all zones including North Central Railway and Core Headquarters Prayagraj on 23 February.
Now, those projects whose DPR has already been approved by the 'Project Evaluation Committee' of the Railway Board and the estimated financial benefit is more than 10 percent, work will start without any delay. On February 23, Railway Board Director Gati Shakti has issued a letter to all GMs for this.
It is said that the projects coming under these corridors will now get the benefit of special provisions which were earlier limited to only selected big projects. The objective behind this policy change is to reduce the cost of logistics and freight.
The expansion of the Energy and Mineral Corridor will facilitate supply of coal to power plants and access of cement to construction sectors. At the same time, it will be easy to connect ports to the main rail network through Rail Sagar Corridor, which will give impetus to international trade.
Laying of new lines on high traffic density routes will reduce the pressure on passenger trains, which will directly benefit the common passengers in the form of punctuality and operation of new trains. CPRO Shashikant Tripathi said that this work will start as per the instructions of the board.
