Jagran correspondent, Ludhiana. Shivam, the delivery boy who was injured after being brutally beaten by 10 to 15 youths on February 1 in Rajouri Garden in Jassiyan area, died in DMC hospital on Sunday. He was on ventilator for seven days, where he breathed his last. At the same time, the family donated all the body organs of the elder son.
The family has demanded addition of murder section in the case and arrest of the main accused. After Shivam's death, there is anger among the relatives and local people. The deceased's father Lakminder accused the police of lax action. He said that even after seven days have passed since the incident, the main accused are still out of the custody of the police.
Relatives say that son Shivam was working hard to support the family. He was beaten to death in public, but till now the police is only claiming to have conducted a raid. He says that unless the main accused are arrested, they will not get justice.
However, in this case also the police have so far arrested five accused. Please note that the miscreants used to harass Shivam's friend's sister. That's why Shivam opposed him. On February 1, the accused attacked Shivam. He sustained severe head injuries and died on a ventilator for seven days. Will add murder section to the case after talking to officials: SHO
SHO Haibowal Varinder Singh Uppal said that five accused have been arrested in this case. Some remain, they too will be caught soon. After talking with the officials, consideration is being given to adding the section of murder in this case.
