This workshop promotes innovation in dentistry.
Jagran correspondent, Varanasi. The first two days of the 7-day hands-on workshop on Dental Implantology held at the Faculty of Dental Sciences, Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS), Banaras Hindu University (BHU) concluded with live surgical procedures and advanced implant techniques. This workshop on “Dental Implantology: From Diagnosis and Planning to Execution” is being organized from January 16 to 22, 2026.
A major surgical procedure was demonstrated during the live surgical sessions, in which six dental implants were placed in a patient's lower jaw and five in the upper jaw using compression and expansion techniques. The surgery was demonstrated step-by-step to the participating dentists, providing a practical understanding of modern implant placement protocols.
In another important demonstration, the entire prosthetic workflow including designing, manufacturing, adjustment and final fitting of the prosthesis was presented to the participants. Through this session, participants gained first-hand experience of the clinical integration of prosthetic planning and implants.
Under the training programme, two Malviya dental implants were successfully placed by trainee dentists under expert supervision. Additionally, two implants were placed in the lower jaw of an edentulous patient, which were attached to a removable denture via magnetic attachments. With this technique, the previously unstable denture became extremely stable, due to which significant improvement was seen in the patient's speaking ability, chewing efficiency and facial beauty.
This workshop is being managed by Kindway Bioresens, a BHU supported startup in the field of dental implant and biomaterials innovation. Today is the third day and this workshop will continue for the next four days. The objective of this workshop is to make the dentists aware of the latest technologies and procedures, so that they can further enhance their professional skills.
The participants took full advantage of this opportunity and enhanced their knowledge. Such workshops play an important role in promoting innovation and excellence in the field of dentistry. Through this workshop, BHU has once again demonstrated its commitment in the field of dentistry.
