Digital Desk, New Delhi. Union Public Service Commission has made another change in this year's Civil Services Examination. In order to provide assistance to candidates with standard disabilities, UPSC has made new provisions in its examination center allocation framework.

UPSC has said that under the revised system, every disabled candidate will be allotted his/her preferred examination centre, which will facilitate him/her in appearing in the Civil Services Examination. A day before this, UPSC had said that any candidate working in IAS or IFS will not be eligible to appear in the Civil Services Examination of 2026.

This year's preliminary examination will be held on May 24. UPSC has implemented several measures for the Civil Services Examination-2026 and Indian Forest Service Examination-2026, the main objective of which is to increase the convenience of the candidates and strengthen the security mechanism.

Under the revised system, there will be no limit on the number of seats at the examination centers for disabled candidates. Initially the existing capacity of each center will be used for both disabled and non-disabled candidates.

However, once a center has been allotted candidates as per its full capacity, that center will not be available to non-PWD candidates, whereas PWD candidates will be able to select the said centre. Wherever required, additional seats will be arranged for the candidates to sit.

UPSC Chairman Ajay Kumar said analysis of exam center data over the last five years has revealed that some centers reach maximum capacity at a very early stage due to high number of applications.

This creates difficulties for disabled candidates. These centers include Delhi, Cuttack, Patna and Lucknow. Under the revised system, every disabled candidate will be assured of his/her preferred examination centre.

New online application portal launched

UPSC has launched a new online application portal to submit applications and conduct examinations. The objective of this portal is to ensure transparency in various stages of the examination process and to simplify the application process for the candidates. The Commission had released the notification for the Civil Services Examination on Wednesday. A total of 933 vacancies will be filled through this examination, which includes 33 posts reserved for disabled candidates.
