Samvad Sutra, Goilkera. A mad wild elephant took the lives of three people of the same family in Goilkera. A man and his two children died in an elephant attack on the intervening night of Monday-Tuesday in Sovan village under Arahasa Panchayat of the block. The deceased children include a one-year-old son and a three-year-old daughter.

At the same time, the wife of the deceased somehow saved her life by running away with an infant child. So far, nine people have died in different villages of Saranda, Podahat and Kolhan forest divisions due to elephant attacks.

At the same time, after killing one person each in Saitaba, Kitapi and Bila villages of Goilkera block, for the fourth consecutive day, the elephant killed three people of the same family in Sowan.

According to the information, the Forest Department was running a campaign to track the elephant and drive it towards the forest late on Monday night. Meanwhile, the department received information that the elephant had been seen near Baihatu. When the team reached there, it was found that an elephant had attacked a family in Sowan.

Forest department personnel reached the hut situated on Tungri with torches. Where a man and his child had died in the elephant attack, while a daughter was injured and breathing.

To save him, the department took him to Manoharpur Community Health Center late in the night, but he died during treatment. There were five people in the family and they lived in a hut on Tungri. There was no settlement nearby, so they could not get any help during the elephant attack. There is panic in the entire area due to the incident.

Forest department is busy in monitoring, there may be trouble in the dark:

A campaign is being run by the Forest Department to drive the elephants into safe and dense forests. It also has a team of experts from West Bengal. On Monday night, a 25-member team of the forest department was busy tracking the elephant. During this time, this tragic accident happened in Sowan village.

The team reached the spot but despite all efforts the injured girl could not be saved. At the same time, due to poor condition of roads and darkness in remote areas, the campaign is facing problems. After the elephant attack, the operation was stopped late at night and the girl was taken to the hospital. The campaign has been started again in the morning.
