Encounter Between Police And Criminals In Amritsar; Ransom Gang Member Injured, Tried To Snatch Pistol From Employee

Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar reached the spot to investigate.

Amritsar Police, taking action against the extortion gang operating in the city, has arrested an accused in the case related to Police Station B Division area after an encounter. This action took place near Sultanwind village. In fact, three members of the Satta Naushehra gang had already been arrested.

Based on the information received during interrogation, the police started searching for the fourth accused. In this series, a raid was conducted near Sultanwind area. During this, the accused tried to attack the police team. Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that during the attack, 20-year-old accused Joban Singh tried to snatch a pistol from a policeman. The police opened fire in self-defense.

In retaliation, the accused was shot in the leg, injuring him. After this the police team took him under control.

The injured was admitted to the hospital

The injured accused was admitted to the Civil Hospital for treatment, where his condition is said to be stable. Police have also recovered weapons from the spot. Investigation has revealed that this gang used to make ransom calls to the laboring youth by luring them with money.

The gang members themselves did not come forward and commit crimes by staying in different areas so as to avoid being caught by the police. On the basis of technical surveillance and secret information, the police has exposed this entire network.

Ransom was demanded from the jeweler

Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that on January 16, a jeweler located in Police Station B Division area had received a threatening call for ransom. Initially the shopkeeper did not lodge any complaint, but after a few days, when an incident of firing came to light in the same area, the police took the matter seriously and started investigation.

He said that during the investigation of the case, it became clear that the ransom calls were not being made by a single individual, but by an organized gang. The police took action and identified the accused and arrested them one by one. The Police Commissioner said that Amritsar Police is working on a policy of zero tolerance against extortion, gangsters and criminal activities.
