State Bureau, Lucknow. The Excise Department will make provisions to promote the export of alcohol products in the new liquor policy. Establishment of distillery units will be encouraged in the excise policy being prepared for the year 2026-27. Excise officials are mulling over further simplification of rules for setting up new distilleries. Also, consideration is being given to improving logistics system and providing additional incentives for investors.
Apart from this, to bring maximum investment in the field of wine production in the state, it is also being considered to provide other facilities to the wine producers including opening of retail outlets. The department is trying to maintain complete transparency in the allotment of liquor shops that will become vacant in the next financial year and to collect maximum excise revenue.
Under the current policy, the government has given the Excise Department a target of collecting excise revenue of Rs 63 thousand crore. Till December the Excise Department has achieved the target of Rs 39695.73 crore. In the new policy, it is being considered to increase the target of excise revenue by 10 percent.
