Jagran correspondent, Amritsar. Amritsar Police has arrested a fifth pass man, who was threatening Civil Hospital CMO Dr. Rajneesh by pretending to be the Health Minister. Accused Harjeet Singh tried to give illegal instructions alleging alleged mismanagement in the hospital. However, on the complaint of the CMO, the police took him into custody. Six cases of fraud have already been registered against the accused.
This case has been registered on the basis of a complaint given by Dr. Rajneesh, a CMO posted at Civil Hospital Amritsar. Dr. Rajneesh told that on Tuesday February, a call came on his mobile at 10.34 am. The caller made allegations of alleged mismanagement in the Civil Hospital and tried to intimidate. The accused tried to interfere in government work and issue several illegal instructions.
Apart from this, he started making derogatory comments against the hospital staff and talking about misusing government machinery. The accused also said that the hospital administration fired an employee without any reason, which is unfair. When the CMO again asked questions about the identity of the accused, he changed his statement and called himself Gurjit Singh from the minister's office.
According to the complainant, the accused repeatedly tried to put pressure on her by mentally harassing her by claiming false authority. After this the CMO brought the matter to the notice of Civil Surgeon Amritsar. The Civil Surgeon contacted Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh in this regard, who categorically denied any call or instruction and directed for legal action in the matter.
During investigation, it emerged that attempts were made by the accused to use fake identities, criminal intimidation and abuse of powers to influence government officials. Based on this, the police took immediate action and arrested the accused. The name of the accused is Harjeet Singh. He is 57 years old and is a resident of Gurbaksh Nagar.
Investigation also revealed that the accused is a private diver. He was arrested from Gate Hakimaan area. Later it became clear that the son of accused Harjeet Singh was working in the security company of the Civil Hospital, but when the documents were checked, he was not found to be an ex-serviceman. In such a situation, the company had removed him from the job as per the rules.
