Dogs and monkeys mostly prey on children.
Jagran correspondent, Hapur. Dogs and monkeys are mostly preying on children. This can be gauged from the fact that in the Community Health Center (CHC) located on Garh Road, on an average, 35 percent of the patients bitten by dogs and monkeys every day are children.
It is very important to get anti-rabies injection after being bitten by a dog, because the rabies virus present in the dog's saliva can cause hydrophobia. This is an incurable disease and can even lead to the death of the patient.
Anti-rabies injections have been given to 16887 dog bite and monkey bite patients in the government hospitals of the district since April 2025. Most of these injections have been given in the CHC located on Garh Road.
Dr. Ashraf Ali, a physician posted at CHC, said that rabies bacteria are always present on the head of every animal that drinks water by licking it with the tongue, such as dogs, monkeys and cats. However, cows and buffaloes are not included in this. When they go mad, bacteria enter the tongue. This makes them more dangerous. In such a situation, if a person is bitten and he does not get anti-rabies injection, he may die.
He told that the bacteria of rabies are so strong that they spread through the veins and along with severe pain, heat and restlessness start. Humans also start behaving like dogs and die within a few days. If a human being bitten by a mad dog bites someone, it has the same effect. After being bitten by these animals, one should get the injection immediately. If you are not able to get it done, then you must get the injection done within 12-24 hours.
Symptoms appear in ten days
If anti-rabies injection is not given after a dog bite, symptoms start appearing within ten days. The patient starts feeling dizziness, vomiting, fever etc. The full effect of rabies occurs within one to three months.
