State Bureau, Jagran Dehradun. The rain and snowfall in Uttarakhand after a long wait has brought happiness, but has also increased the challenge.
Defense Geoinformatics Research Establishment (DGRE), Chandigarh has expressed the possibility of avalanche in the higher Himalayan regions of Uttarakhand till 5 pm on Saturday. Seeing this, the government has become alert.
Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman has instructed the administration, police and other departments of all the concerned districts to remain on alert mode.
According to the information received from the State Disaster Management Authority, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Pithoragarh have been kept in Danger Level-3 and Bageshwar in Danger Level-2 due to the possibility of avalanche in case of snowfall.
In view of this, the district administration, police, SDRF, health department and other line departments of these districts have been asked to remain on alert mode.
Instructions have been given to keep constant vigil in sensitive areas and ensure quick relief and rescue operations if needed.
The Disaster Management Secretary has appealed to the citizens living in sensitive areas, tourists, pilgrims and people traveling on mountain routes to avoid unnecessary travel. Also asked to follow the guidelines issued by the administration.
