Jagran correspondent, Dehradun. The entire area is in panic due to the terror of a stray dog in the border area of Doon. It is claimed that the said dog has bitten about 45 people in the recent past. There is an atmosphere of fear in the area due to continuous attacks. Women and children are reluctant to go out alone in the streets, while people have also stopped walking in the morning and evening.

Seeing the seriousness of the situation, the Municipal Corporation took immediate action on the councilor's complaint and caught the dog and sent it to the Animal Birth Control (ABC) Centre.

Seemadwar ward councilor Vinod Rawat submitted a written complaint to the Municipal Corporation on Friday. He told that a stray dog in the area has become aggressive and is causing panic. Earlier information was given verbally to the corporation employees, but now a formal complaint was lodged, after which action was taken.

Senior Veterinary Officer of the Municipal Corporation, Dr. Varun Aggarwal said that within an hour of receiving the complaint, the team was sent to the spot and the dog was safely caught and taken to the ABC Center in a cage. He told that the dog will be kept in isolation for 10 days and monitored. If the dog dies during this period, it will be considered to be suffering from rabies.

According to Dr. Aggarwal, it is recorded in the corporation records that the dog has been previously sterilized and vaccinated. Despite this, anti-rabies vaccine will be given if needed. The dog will also be given training to remain calm among people, after which it will be released in the same area as per the guidelines of the court.

He said that on the instructions of Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal and Municipal Commissioner Namami Bansal, strict and prompt action is being taken against aggressive stray or pet dogs. Within one to two hours of receiving the complaint, the dog is being caught and taken to the ABC Centre.
