Jagran correspondent, Kurukshetra. The fast track court on Saturday sentenced five murderers and dacoits of gynecologist Dr Vinita Arora to death. These include the doctor's maid Poonam, her lover Vikram alias Vicky and three others. The doctor's two other servants, Ketram and Umesh, were acquitted due to lack of evidence. This incident took place on the night of 9 January 2023. Dr. Atul Arora told the police that he was in his parents' room at around 9:20 pm. He heard the scream of his wife Vineeta.
As soon as he came out, he saw that two miscreants were pointing pistols at his wife's head. The miscreants took him and his parents hostage. During this time, Dr Vinita was killed by attacking her on the head with a heavy object and the miscreants fled with gold and silver jewelery and about Rs 1.5 lakh. Dr. Atul Arora somehow saved his life by jumping from the roof, reached the neighborhood and raised an alarm, but by then the miscreants had fled.
When the police detained the house maid Poonam and interrogated her, the conspiracy was exposed. Investigation revealed that Poonam, resident of Titana (Kaithal) and her lover Vikram had planned the entire incident. Vikramjeet alias Bittu, resident of Cheeka, Kaithal, Sunil Kumar of Narnaund, Hisar and Manish Kumar of Bhagwangadhi village of Aligarh were also involved in this conspiracy. After nearly three years of hearing, the District Sessions Court has convicted Poonam, Vikram, Vikramjeet, Sunil Kumar and Manish Kumar and sentenced them to death.
