Jagran correspondent, Babatpur. Due to dense fog and low visibility on Wednesday night, planes arriving in Varanasi from Chennai and Ahmedabad were not allowed to land and were diverted to the nearest airport.
According to the information, Indigo Airlines flight 6E 401 reached Varanasi airfield at its scheduled time at around 9 pm from Chennai and asked for landing permission but due to low visibility on the runway, landing permission was not given. The plane was diverted to Kolkata after circling in the air for about half an hour waiting for the weather to improve.
Spice Jet flight SG 441, which reached Varanasi from Ahmedabad, also reached Varanasi airfield at 9:30 pm and asked for permission to land but due to not getting permission from ATC, the plane was diverted to the nearby airport Lucknow.

Let us tell you that after the arrival of both the above mentioned planes, they go back to the same city, due to non-arrival of the plane, the passengers going to Chennai and Ahmedabad by plane were accommodated in hotels. Some passengers canceled their journey and took full refund.
