Joy claims that the current interim government of Bangladesh is supported by religious extremists

State Bureau, Kolkata. Sajib Wajed Joy, son of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, claimed in a virtual address in Kolkata on Monday that whether the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) comes to power in Bangladesh or not, Jamaat-e-Islami will maintain its influence from outside. BNP will remain America's puppet. As a result, the Jamaat will be able to do whatever it wants.

Pakistan will get a free hand. This is a matter of great concern for the security of India's eastern border. In this situation, he called on all international groups to condemn the election. Sheikh Hasina's son was the keynote speaker at the book release ceremony organized by BJP-affiliated cultural platform Khola Hawa.

Joy claims that the current interim government of Bangladesh is supported by religious extremists. These two are mixed with each other. In this context, he said that the protesters were not religious extremists or extremists. They were doing their work from behind the religious extremist and extremist movement. In his speech of about half an hour he raised the issue of July Movement and upcoming elections.

He took responsibility on his shoulders for the incident of death of students and general public in Bangladesh during the 2024 July Movement. He also said that after that movement, many policemen and Awami League workers were also killed in Bangladesh.

'The demands of the quota reform activists were justified'

He said that the demands of the quota reform activists were justified. However, our government had abolished the quota long ago. Later, it had to be restored on court orders. But we left the matter to the court. This was our failure. In fact, this quota reform movement of 2024 later transformed into an anti-discrimination student movement. Due to this movement, Hasina government fell in Bangladesh.

Many times in the past, questions have been raised on the steps taken by the police of Hasina government to suppress this movement. Joy said that our government did not want anyone to die. But it happened. The violence was not started by the government, it was started by the militants. However, in this case he has also made it clear that by the word extremists he does not mean the protesting students.
