Digital Desk, New Delhi. Last month, on January 28, Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar's plane Learjet 45 (VT-SSK) crashed in Baramati. Ajit Pawar and four other people died in this accident. A big revelation has been made in the investigation of the plane crash.
The investigation revealed that it was the same aircraft model – the Learjet 45 – that was involved in the September 2023 crash. It was already banned by the European Union (EU) safety regulator as unsafe.
The European Union (EU) aviation regulator, which certifies non-EU airlines operating in its territories, has refused to allow entry into EU territories to a Delhi-based private jet company, which also flew Maharashtra leader Ajit Pawar, India's aviation regulator DGCA said in a statement.
Following the crash of VSR Ventures' Learjet 45 VT-DBL aircraft in September 2023, the EU agency launched an assessment of the Delhi-based company to find out if it is still eligible for TCO authorisation. In 2024, EASA asked the Indian company to provide some details about the accident.
However, VSR Ventures never responded to the inquiry. Ultimately, the EU agency suspended the TCO authorization on December 17, 2024, with the condition that it could be reinstated if the company responded within 12 months.
TCO is a mandatory safety certification issued by EASA to non-EU airlines operating commercial flights within the EU and specific European regions.
