Jagran Correspondent, Uttarkashi: Due to lack of rain and snowfall, forest areas are becoming vulnerable to fire in winter itself. On Saturday, a fire broke out in the forests of Mukhem range, due to which a cloud of smoke was seen rising from the forests throughout the day. Due to forest fire, there is a possibility of damage to the valuable forest resources and also to the wildlife.

Let us tell you that not a drop of rain has fallen in the district since the last monsoon season. At the same time, there has been no snowfall in the high altitude areas during winter. Due to this hot temperature and lack of moisture in the forests, forest areas are continuously falling prey to forest fires.

Even before this, fire had broken out in the forests of Mukhem range. At the same time, incident of forest fire has come to light in the forests of Dharasu range. On Saturday, a forest fire suddenly broke out in the hills above the Manera area, due to which the forest kept burning throughout the day.

On the burning of forests in winter, environmentalist Suresh Bhai said that the forest fires in winter are extinguished only by rain, but it is not raining. The fire is reaching the high Himalayan regions. There is no information about the arrangements for extinguishing the fire. The forest department also does not have enough resources.

Here, Forest Range Officer Mukhem Range Govind Singh Panwar says that there is information about forest fire in the upper hills of Manera area. On information, forest workers went to the spot to extinguish the fire. But due to the inaccessible area, there is a problem in extinguishing the fire.
