Jagran correspondent, Chhapra. Taking an important initiative towards environmental protection and expansion of modern facilities in the district, District Magistrate Vaibhav Srivastava on Saturday held a review meeting through video conferencing regarding the construction of a gas-based crematorium.

This crematorium is proposed in the blocks adjacent to the Ganga/Saryu river. During the review, marking of one acre land each on the banks of the river in Sadar, Rivilganj, Manjhi, Dighwara and Sonpur blocks was discussed in detail.

The District Magistrate gave clear instructions to all the concerned Sub-Divisional Officers, Land Reforms Deputy Collector, Block Development Officer and Zonal Officers to immediately select a suitable site in these five blocks and send a proposal of one acre of land for the construction of a gas-based crematorium, so that the construction work can be started soon.

The District Magistrate said that with the construction of a gas-based crematorium, while the dependence on traditional wood will be reduced, along with environmental protection, better facilities will also be available to the common people.

He laid emphasis on time bound action while giving instructions not to allow any laxity in the work.

In the meeting, Additional Collector, Revenue and Officer-in-Charge, Revenue were instructed to regularly monitor this referred work, so that the work can proceed smoothly from land selection to construction process.
