Ghaziabad Police arrested 23 drug smugglers under Prahar campaign.
Jagran correspondent, Ghaziabad. Police have arrested 23 drug smugglers in the Operation Prahar campaign launched against drug smugglers and criminals since January 1. In an operation conducted at several places on Monday night itself, Rs 59.15 lakh was recovered from two female drug smugglers. Police have also recovered 10 illegal pistols in the operation.
In a press conference at Police Lines on Tuesday, Additional Police Commissioner Law and Order Alok Priyadarshi said that the police has recovered 4.75 kg of ganja from four smugglers. Among the arrested accused, Brijraj resident of Nandgram, his wife Lalla Bai, Sona wife Kamal and Geeta wife Tarun resident of 30 Foota Road Nandgram have been arrested. Rs 59.15 lakh have been recovered from them.
On the other hand, Modinagar police arrested a smuggler, Vikas Sharma, resident of Devnagar and recovered about one kilo of ganja. Crossing Republic police station has arrested 10 smugglers and recovered 15.33 kg of ganja from them. During interrogation, the caught smugglers revealed their names as Sajida, Sahina, Shabnam, resident of Red Quarter, Sudamapuri etc.
From January 1 till now, police have recovered 98.50 kg of ganja, 2.20 kg of opium and 570 Alprazolam tablets in Operation Prahar. DCP City Dhawal Jaiswal, DCP Dehat Surendranath Tiwari, DCP Trans Hindon Nimish Patil, ACP Wave City Priyashree Pal and ACP Nandgram Upasana Pandey were also present in the press conference.
