Jagran correspondent, Kolkata. Amidst the ongoing political turmoil ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, Trinamool Congress has achieved major success in the Nandigram Cooperative Society elections. The candidates of the ruling party have won all the seats of Ahmedabad Cooperative Society of Nandigram-2 block of East Medinipur by defeating BJP by a margin of 12-0.

Political analysts are considering this victory of Trinamool Congress as significant in Nandigram, which is considered to be the stronghold of one of the key faces of the state BJP and leader of the opposition Suvendu Adhikari. District leaders attributed the victory to the Sevashray project, which was launched by the party's national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee in Nandigram last Thursday.

What did TMC claim?

Former Medinipur Zilla Parishad President and Trinamool MLA from Patashpur Uttam Barik said that the initiative to provide health check-up, medicine distribution, administrative services and various social assistance at the village level has been started through Sevashray. As a result, the confidence of the general public in the ruling party has increased. Trinamool claims that this program has a big role in establishing direct contact with the people in sensitive areas like Nandigram.
