Jagran correspondent, Noida. Cyber thugs defrauded Naveen Kainth of Greater Noida to the tune of Rs 81.80 lakh by luring him with the promise of profit by investing in share trading. The miscreants trapped them and got the money transferred to different accounts. Cyber crime police station has registered a case and has intensified the investigation.
The victim had taken loans from two banks to run his own business. On October 29, a message came on his phone from an unknown number. In it the messenger described himself as associated with the renowned company Anand Rathi Wealth Management.
To increase contact, Shatir kept talking to him for several days. Meanwhile, Shatir also offered them investment by talking about earning huge profits by investing in the share market. Having good knowledge of investing in the share market, he listened to the plan and discussed further.
Meanwhile, the vicious person added him to a WhatsApp group. Here other miscreants were giving information about various companies, share markets and IPOs to all the members and telling them the means of earning. Everyone was investing the amount accordingly.
He too got trapped in the group due to continuous screenshots. The miscreants got him registered in the app after investment related training. After downloading the app, the investment amount was seen increasing. He made initial investment of Rs 10, 20, 30 and 40 thousand.
After making profits, the fraudsters advised to invest in IPO. It is alleged that the victim fell into the trap and transferred Rs 27 lakh 80 thousand online to several accounts. After increasing the trust, he took a loan of Rs 52 lakh from various bank accounts and transferred the amount to the account given by the fraudsters. Meanwhile, when he wanted to withdraw the amount along with the profit, the miscreants put a condition of depositing platform charge of Rs 60.80 lakh and tax of Rs 90 lakh.
Upon protesting, the thugs expelled him from the group. ADCP Cyber Shaivya Goyal says that the bank accounts to which the money has been sent from the victim's account. A team is engaged in their investigation. Action is underway to freeze the defrauded amount.
