This wave of celebration, which started from Kiribati and New Zealand, has now reached entire Asia, Europe and America. In India too, lakhs of people are celebrating on the streets, beaches and hotels in cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Goa, Bengaluru and Kolkata.

Sydney, Australia: Spectacular fireworks over the Harbor Bridge and Opera House. This time a minute's silence was observed to pay tribute to the victims of the Bondi Beach attack.
New Year celebrated in Thailand and Tokyo
A spectacular fireworks display took place near the Buddha statue in Bangkok, Thailand, while Tokyo and Seoul also welcomed the New Year in traditional and modern ways.
There was a stir in Dubai and New York
The world's largest light and laser show was held at Dubai's Burj Khalifa, while millions of people gathered for the iconic 'ball drop' event at New York's Times Square.
