Heavy collision between two dumpers on Varanasi Ring Road, driver and passenger narrowly escaped.
Jagran correspondent, Varanasi (Badagaon). There was a massive collision between two dumpers on Friday night at the Ring Road intersection located at Wajidpur under Harhua police post. The collision was so severe that the front part of the rear dumper was completely damaged. It was fortunate that both the driver and the passenger survived safely.
It is said that Mirzapur resident Jitendra Kumar along with his helper Deepak Yadav were going to unload the ballast from Kushinagar from the truck and load the ballast again. At around 2 o'clock in the night, as the vehicle reached near the Ring Road intersection, the dumper moving ahead suddenly applied brakes after seeing the breaker and crossed with caution.
Meanwhile, the second dumper coming from behind was at high speed. The driver tried to apply brakes but in panic instead of brakes he pressed his foot on the accelerator due to which the vehicle went out of control and collided with the dumper moving in front. Due to the collision, the cabin of the dumper was badly damaged and the engine stopped.
After the accident, there was a traffic jam for some time on Ring Road Phase One. The damaged dumper remained parked near the intersection till around 7 am on Friday morning, due to which traffic was affected. Since both the vehicles belonged to the same company, the matter was resolved with mutual consent and no police action was taken.
At around 9 in the morning, the traffic police reached the spot and removed the damaged dumper and cleared the road, after which the traffic became normal. Local people say that there is often a possibility of an accident due to the breakers built at the Ring Road intersection and speeding vehicles.
