-Has provided houses to more than 2500 eligible beneficiaries in the last three financial years-Jagran Correspondent, Dehradun. Beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana will have to get their houses constructed on time. If there is delay or carelessness in the construction of the house, the amount received will have to be returned to the beneficiaries. Every stage of house construction will be monitored. Only after this the next installment will be released to the beneficiaries. This will ensure the quality and time of construction.

It is noteworthy that through Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), houses are being provided to the eligible persons of poor and deprived sections in rural areas. Talking about Doon district, houses have been provided to more than 2500 eligible beneficiaries in the last three financial years. At the same time, teams at the development block level are busy verifying the eligible people included in the list for the financial year 2025-26.

Departmental officials said that money is sent in installments through DBT according to the stage of construction work in the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries. Many times, after doing a little construction, the beneficiaries settle down and take the installment money, but now this will not happen. At each stage of housing construction, photos of the complete construction including foundation, linter, roof will be recorded on the Awas App by geo-tagging. If phased construction is not done following the time, further installments will not be released.

Officials said that for the construction of a house, the first installment is Rs 40,000, the second is Rs 60,000 and after the completion of the construction work, Rs 30,000 is released as the third installment, while Rs 12,000 is provided separately for the toilet.

Geo-tagging photo will be recorded on Awas App

If carelessness is taken in phased construction, further installments may get halted. For this, there will be proper monitoring through technical system. The amount of installments will be released along with the complete construction of the house including foundation, linter and roof. In this way, geo-tagging photos of housing construction will be uploaded on the Awas app in a phased manner. In such a situation, the quality of work and time will be better maintained.

Under PM Awas Yojana, houses have to be constructed in a phased manner and as per the stipulated time. After receiving the money, if the house is not constructed on time, the money will have to be returned. A system is in place to monitor the construction work. Further installments are released to the beneficiaries only after proper construction. -Vikram Singh, Project Manager, Rural Development Agency
