In Amritsar, A Woman Retired From The Electricity Board Was Brutally Murdered By Slitting Her Throat, Her Body Was Found Stained With Blood; Tenant Absconding

Jagran correspondent, Amritsar. A heart-wrenching incident came to light late on Wednesday night in Indira Colony located on Majitha Road in Amritsar, Punjab. 62 year old widow Veena was brutally murdered in her own house by slitting her throat. She was retired from the Electricity Board and was living with her son near her daughter's house.

Two youths living on rent in the same house have been accused of murder, who absconded after the incident. After the incident, there is an atmosphere of panic and anger in the entire area. According to the information, Veena lived in Indira Colony with her son Ballu. Due to financial constraints, she had given a room on rent to two youths.

People nearby say that these youths were seen involved in suspicious activities from the beginning. Many times the residents of the locality had warned Veena that these people did not look good, but the woman ignored them considering them to be tenants.

After the incident, Improvement Trust Chairman Karmjit Singh Rintu also reached the spot.

Tenants made son drink alcohol

Police investigation has revealed that on Wednesday night the accused youth first gave liquor to Ballu, in which some kind of intoxicant was mixed. Due to this Ballu went into unconscious state. Meanwhile, Veena, who was left alone in the house, was attacked by the accused and killed her by slitting her throat with a sharp weapon.

When Ballu regained consciousness in the morning, the ground slipped beneath his feet after seeing the scene inside the house. There was blood scattered in the room and his mother Veena was lying dead. When the noise was raised, nearby people reached the spot and immediately informed the police. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot and took the body into custody and sent it to the civil hospital mortuary.

Verification of tenants not done

Important evidence has been collected from the spot and the forensic team also investigated the spot. The accused youth are absconding since the incident and special teams have been formed to search for them. The footage of the surrounding areas and CCTV cameras is being scrutinized.

Besides, the identity of the accused and their previous records are also being investigated. Police verification of the tenants was also not done by the family.
