Jagran correspondent, Gopalganj. A sensational case of fraud in the name of marriage has come to light in Gopalganj. Nearly five lakh rupees were allegedly extorted from two youths from Rajasthan in the name of arranging marriage. Immediately after the marriage, late on Monday evening, after beating both the young men and their relatives, the brides ran away with the miscreants. After the incident, the victim's relative informed the police. After which the city police station has started investigating the case.
According to the information, Ankit Kumar, resident of Jaipur (Sanganer) of Rajasthan and Prince, resident of Sawai Madhopur, were interested in marriage. A broker living near his house promised to arrange a marriage in Bihar. It is alleged that the broker took Rs 2 lakh each in cash from both the youths. Apart from this, another fifty thousand rupees were recovered in the name of wedding expenses.
On Monday morning, both the youths reached Gopalganj by bus with their relatives. From Banjari Mod, an associate of the broker took them to a marriage hall located on Jadopur Road. Four-five people were already present there. After the meal two young women were called, who agreed to the marriage. After this, the marriage was conducted as per traditional customs and the bride and groom also got themselves photographed with their family members.
After the marriage, both the young men left for the bus stand by auto with their respective brides. Had to leave for Rajasthan from here. It is alleged that as soon as the auto reached near Banjari turn, four youths riding on two Apache motorcycles stopped the auto. The grooms were beaten up and their belongings were snatched away.
Meanwhile, both the brides also ran away with the youth riding the bike. Both the grooms, tied in the bond of marriage, tried to stop their respective brides. But both the brides also ran away. After the incident, both the victim youths reached Nagar police station and lodged a written complaint.
They caught the broker and handed him over to the police. The city police station is interrogating the accused and the investigation of the case is going on. The victimized youth demanded the police to take action against the robber bride and the marriage hall. In this regard, city police station incharge Praveen Prabhakar is busy investigating the case.
