Dialogue Associate, Outer Delhi. Efforts are continuing to extract water from pumps in Kirari's Sharma Colony. About 10 pumps have been installed in five blocks of the colony, from which water is being extracted. These pumps were installed in the streets of several blocks. Due to removal of water, the water level in the streets has reduced by three to six inches. In such a situation, people definitely got some relief from the problem of waterlogging. But the people of A Block are still struggling with the water filled with bullets.
Even on Sunday, people of A-Block did not get respite from waterlogging. Here water is being extracted continuously from four pumps. The water level has decreased in B and C blocks. Apart from this, the water level in the streets of D and E-Block has reduced considerably. The water in most of the streets here has completely dried up. As soon as the problem of waterlogging in Sharma Colony became serious, the administration came into action. After which pumps were arranged to remove water from the colony.
The water filled in the streets is being removed through pumps for about five days. People say that now DDA has also stopped filling the waste at the landfill site. This has also brought some relief. People say that at present water is being extracted through pumps. With the arrival of monsoon, the problem may worsen due to waterlogging again. In such a situation, a permanent solution is necessary. Dainik Jagran is continuously publishing the problem of Sharma Colony prominently. On which the authorities have also taken cognizance.
Pumps installed at these places of the colony
Pumps have been installed at about 10 places to get water out of Sharma Colony. Pumps were seen installed in street number-2, 3, 5 and 6 in A-Block. The pump is installed near street number 4 and street number 9 in B-Block.
The water from the colony is being removed through two pumps in C-Block and is being released into a temporary drain made in the vacant grounds of Delhi Development Authority (DDA). A pump is extracting water from the colony in street number-6 in D-Block. Apart from this, the pump installed near Baba Balaknath Temple is pumping water out of the colony.

Here the drains have not been cleaned after monsoon. There is no drainage of water. Now, due to the installation of the pump, the water in the street has definitely reduced by six inches. But filling with water again may cause more problems.

Due to the pump running, the water has reduced by about three inches. But the streets are still filled with water. There has definitely been some relief from waterlogging. But even now one has to go out in the water wearing long boots.
These pumps stop due to exhaustion of diesel. Many times the pumps are switched off even at night. After two hours the pump remains off for another hour. If these pumps keep running continuously, the water will drain out very soon.

Simply installing a pump is not a permanent solution to the problem. Find a permanent solution to the governance problem. Otherwise, we will vote only for the one who will solve our problems.
