Jagran correspondent, Haldwani. The police has arrested the accused of fraud worth crores of rupees, who was absconding for three years by embezzling the hard-earned money of the public, from Lalkuan area. Two cases were registered against them in Ramnagar and one in Mukhani police station area.
According to the police, Nainital Police has made a big revelation about the gang that cheated the public of crores of rupees by luring them with high interest and guarantee. Acting under the instructions of Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Manjunath TC, the police have arrested the two main accused.
SSP has appealed to the public to do thorough research before investing money in any investment scheme, otherwise their hard-earned money may fall into the hands of fraudsters. The accused cheated innocent people by forming a fake cooperative society. According to the police, this case was registered under section 409, case number 246/23, registered at Kotwali Ramnagar.
The accused lured investors with higher interest and guarantee by forming an institution in the name of “Devbhoomi Multipurpose Self-reliant Cooperative Society” in the year 2017. After this, huge amount of money was deposited from people of many areas including Ramnagar, Haldwani. In which 300 people deposited an amount of Rs 6 crore 80 lakh to the fake cooperative institution. Investigation revealed that the operators of the organization embezzled an amount of about Rs 6 crore 80 lakh and absconded.
The police team, acting on the basis of technical evidence and clues, arrested both the main accused from Lalkuan area. In which the names of the arrested accused are Hemchand Pant resident of Haripur Nayak district Nainital, Vikas Durgapal resident of Dahria Kotwali Haldwani.
