Security tightened during Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra on New Year

Jagran correspondent, Katra. With the arrival of New Year 2026, the number of devotees from across the country on the holy pilgrimage of Mata Vaishno Devi is continuously increasing. In view of the increasing influx of devotees, security arrangements have been tightened unprecedentedly from Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan to base camp Katra.

Strong security arrangements on the travel route

The police and administration are in full alert mode, so that the devotees do not face any kind of inconvenience and the journey remains completely safe and pleasant. Along with the police, additional companies of CRPF have also been deployed to strengthen the security arrangements. The Quick Response Team (QRT) has been kept on full alert at the base camp Katra, while intelligence agencies are also continuously monitoring the yatra route.

Intelligence department is also monitoring

Police, CRPF and Intelligence Department teams are jointly monitoring the Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan complex. At the same time, all the sensitive places from the building to the base camp are being continuously patrolled by the security forces. Round the clock surveillance is being done through CCTV cameras installed on the Yatra route, while major sites of Katra are also being monitored through drone cameras. To ensure the safety of the devotees, every activity is being continuously monitored from the Integrated Command and Control Center established in the building complex and base camp Katra.

Intensive checking of vehicles and pedestrians

Additional personnel have been deployed at all police outposts adjacent to Katra and all vehicles and pedestrians are being intensively checked. Along with this, special monitoring is also being done on the laborers providing services as horses, stooges and palanquins on the Bhawan Marg and they are being checked from time to time, so that any untoward incident can be prevented.

'No compromise on security'

In view of the increasing number of devotees in view of the New Year 2026, IGP Bhimsen Tooti on Saturday held a meeting with senior officers of police and security forces in Katra to review the security arrangements and issued necessary guidelines. On this occasion, SP Katra Vipin Chandran clearly said that no compromise will be made on security. He said that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure that the journey of Mata Vaishno Devi remains completely safe and pleasant for the devotees. Along with this, constant monitoring is being done at every level.
