Shubman Gill told the reason for the defeat.
Sports Desk, New Delhi. Thanks to the century innings of Darrell Mitchell and Glenn Phillips, New Zealand defeated India by 41 runs in the third ODI and won the series 2-1. Kiwi team has won the ODI series for the first time in India. In this match played at Holkar Stadium in Indore, New Zealand, batting first, scored 337 runs.
In reply, even after Virat Kohli's century, Team India was reduced to 296 runs. Kohli scored the 54th century of his ODI career by scoring 124 runs in 108 balls. Whereas Harshit Rana, who was struggling to make a place in the Indian team as a bowling all-rounder, scored the first half-century of his ODI career.
Rana played an innings of 52 runs in 43 balls. After losing the series, Indian captain Shubman Gill enumerated the reasons for this. Not only this, he also praised Virat Kohli and Rana. Apart from this, he also talked about the opportunities being given to Indian captain Nitish Reddy.
Shubman Gill said, "After the win in the first match, the series was tied at 1-1. After the match played in Vadodara, I was very disappointed with the way we played. There are many areas which need improvement. Talking about the positive aspects, Virat Kohli's batting has been excellent. The way Harshit Rana has batted in this series, it is not easy to bat at number 8."
Gill said, "The way Rana handled the responsibility is praiseworthy. The fast bowlers bowled well in this series. Keeping the World Cup in mind, we want to give opportunities to Nitish Reddy. We want to give him enough overs so that we can see what kind of combinations work for us and what kind of balls work for him."
