Half century from Nitish Reddy.
Sports Desk, New Delhi. Indian all-rounder Nitish Reddy scored a half-century at the Holkar Stadium in Indore on Sunday. After the failure of the top order, Nitish took charge of the innings along with Virat Kohli. There was a partnership of 88 runs on 88 balls between the two for the 5th wicket.
However, Nitish was caught out while trying to score fast runs. Nitish tries to play a pull shot and the ball goes into the hands of Young standing at short midwicket. This wicket went to the account of Christian Clarke.
hit 2 fours and 2 sixes
Nitish batted at a strike rate of 92.98 and scored 53 runs on 57 balls. In this innings, he also hit 2 fours and 2 sixes. This is the first half-century of Nitish's ODI career. Not only this, this is his best score in his ODI career.
Nitish, who made his ODI debut against Australia in Perth on October 19, 2025, had scored 47 runs at an average of 23.50 and strike rate of 112 in the 3 innings of 3 ODIs played till date. His highest score during this period was 20 runs.
Also bowled 8 overs
Nitish also got ample opportunity to bowl in the third ODI. However, he could not bring any success to India. Nitish bowled 8 overs and gave 53 runs at an economy of 6.60. During this period his wicket box remained empty.
Got a chance after Sundar got injured
All-rounder Washington Sundar was injured in the first ODI of the series played in Vadodara. In such a situation, Nitish Kumar got a chance in the playing 11 in the second match played in Rajkot. He failed in the second ODI, hence questions were being raised about Nitish's place. Nitish had played an innings of 20 runs in 21 balls in Rajkot. Whereas in bowling, he bowled 2 overs and did not achieve any success by giving 13 runs.
