Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on phone on Monday and reiterated his commitment to further strengthen relations between the two countries. Modi told Ramgoolam that he looked forward to welcoming him to India next week for the AI Impact Summit.
PM Modi said in a post on X, 'I was very happy to receive a call from my friend, Prime Minister Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam. We reviewed the progress made in comprehensive cooperation between India and Mauritius since our memorable meeting in Varanasi last year.

PM Modi said that the commitment was reiterated to further strengthen the special, historic and people-centric ties that bind the two countries. India and Mauritius will continue to work together to achieve the common objectives of peace and stability in the Indian Ocean region.
PM Modi visited Mauritius in March
Following Prime Minister Modi's visit to Mauritius in March 2025, Ramgoolam paid a state visit to India in September 2025, his first foreign bilateral visit in his current tenure.
Prime Minister Modi and his Mauritian counterpart held delegation-level talks in Varanasi, in which both sides comprehensively reviewed the advanced strategic partnership between the two countries and identified new opportunities to deepen cooperation in areas of mutual interest that will promote shared prosperity for both countries, their people and the region.
