PTI, New Delhi. United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres has said that India is a very successful emerging economy. It has an important role not only in the global economy but also in global affairs. It is the perfect place to host an AI summit.
Guterres said in an interview that the entire world should benefit from Artificial Intelligence (AI) and not just the developed countries or the two superpowers. He was referring to America and China. He congratulated India for organizing this summit and said that it is necessary that the development of AI is for the benefit of all.
AI summit will be held till 20th February
Countries of the Global South should also become a part of it. The high-level event, to be held from 16 to 20 February, is the first AI summit in the Global South based on the three guiding principles of 'people, planet and progress'.
It is necessary to create a universal device
Guterres said it is necessary to make AI a universal tool for the benefit of humanity. Highlighting India's role, he said that this summit will provide an opportunity for in-depth discussion on all the possibilities and risks of AI.
Eager to talk to PM Modi
Guterres said that the recent trade agreement between India and the European Union is a good example, which strengthens the role of emerging economies. Expressing his happiness about visiting India, the UN Secretary General said that India's contribution to the world is important and he is very much looking forward to talking to PM Narendra Modi during his visit to New Delhi.
Also said that it is always wonderful to visit India because of its diversity and culture.
