Jagran correspondent, Bhagalpur. The 105 kilometer track between Bhagalpur and Howrah has been equipped with the armor system. Kavach helps the loco pilot to run the train within the prescribed speed limit. If they fail to do so, it automatically applies the brakes. It has been designed, developed and manufactured in the country itself.

The first field trials in passenger trains began in February 2016 and it was adopted as the National Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system in July 2020. Armor is a complex system consisting of components like loco armor, station armor, telecommunication towers, RFID tags along the entire length of the track, etc.

More than 50 thousand passengers travel between the two stations every month. There are 5 trains running from Bhagalpur to Howrah. One of which is Vande Bharat Express. The route from Howrah to Vardhaman has been covered with armour. Due to which lakhs of passengers are being provided security. This route of Eastern Railway is between Bhagalpur to Howrah and trains going from Bihar to Howrah are also benefiting from it.

The armor system between Howrah and Vardhaman is of modern model 4.0. After the Coromandel Express accident near Balasore, Eastern Railway has increased work on safety. The routes where there is greatest need are being reviewed. This stretch of 105 km eastern railway has the highest armor protection after Mathura-Nagda in Rajasthan (549 route km) from Uttar Pradesh.

Jaynagar-Howrah Express passes between Bhagalpur and Howrah via Kahalgaon, Sahibganj, Vardhaman. Kaviguru and Vande Bharat Express go to Howrah via Hansdiha, Dumka, Vardhaman. Gaya-Howrah and Jamalpur-Howrah Express goes from Sahibganj to Howrah via Vardhaman.
