Digital Desk, Indore. There was chaos on Agra-Mumbai four lane in Manpur area near Indore on Monday morning when a truck filled with chemicals suddenly caught fire. The fire was so intense that its smoke was visible up to a distance of about a kilometre. Another truck parked nearby also got caught in the fire, causing a long traffic jam on both sides of the four lane and traffic coming to a complete standstill.
Fire brigade brought it under control
As soon as information about the incident was received, police and fire department teams reached the spot. The fire brigade that arrived from Manpur and Mhow brought the fire under control after about an hour of effort. During this time, the police gradually restored the traffic system by removing the vehicles stuck in the jam.
The truck was going to Loha Mandi of Indore.
Truck driver Rakesh told that he was going to Loha Mandi of Indore with boxes of chemicals from Bhiwandi area of Mumbai. Had parked the truck in Manpur to drink tea. After some time, an employee of the dhaba informed about the fire in the truck. As soon as we reached outside, we saw that the fire had become huge. According to the driver, the goods were loaded in the truck a day earlier.
Manpur police station in-charge Lokendra Hihor said that another truck parked behind also got caught in the fire. At present the cause of the fire has not been known. The case is being investigated.
Local people also tried to extinguish the fire
As soon as the fire broke out, the people present on the spot tried to extinguish the fire, but due to the presence of chemicals, the fire spread rapidly. Later, with the help of fire brigade personnel, the situation could be completely controlled.
