Digital Desk, Indore. The troubles of IAS officer Santosh Verma, who is already embroiled in controversies over his objectionable remarks on Brahmin daughters, are not showing any sign of abating. Now the Sessions Court has ordered him to appear at MG Road police station and give samples of his signature.
In the order issued on Thursday, the court made it clear that cooperation in the investigation is mandatory. The decision on the application for cancellation of bail will be taken only after the samples are given. The next hearing of the case has been fixed for March 4.
Two decisions increased the controversy
According to Additional Public Prosecutor Yogesh Jaiswal, two different decisions had come out from the court of suspended Additional Sessions Judge Vijayendra Rawat in the fraud case registered against Verma at Lasudia police station.
After two different orders came to light, ADJ Rawat himself had lodged a complaint at MG Road police station. He was suspended after the matter came to light.
Problem regarding signature sample
MG Road police is investigating the entire episode and wanted samples of Verma's signature to verify the authenticity of the documents. It is alleged that Verma was not cooperating in the investigation and was refusing to give samples.
Due to this, the police submitted an application in the court requesting to cancel the bail.
Defense's argument vs. government's argument
During the hearing, Verma's lawyer argued that his client was being unnecessarily implicated. He said the signatures were taken at the time of arrest.
At the same time, it was told by the government that those documents are currently in the investigation process of the High Court, hence fresh signature samples are necessary.
After hearing both the parties, the court ordered that Santosh Verma go to the police station and provide samples of signatures. Only after this the decision on cancellation of bail will be taken.
